THANK YOU for your desire to consider participating in the 16th Annual Good Works WALK! Thank you for your desire to support our efforts to assist people who have no place to live. I started Good Works during my senior year at Ohio University in 1981. I opened the basement of my home to adults and children who were experiencing homelessness and needed a place to sleep. Today, 37 years later, we continue to reach out to people without homes in 9 rural Southeast Ohio counties. We welcome people without a home into the Good Works Timothy House located on the west side of Athens.
The Good Works WALK began in 2003. Our vision was to create an experience for adults and children of all ages which would deepen their compassion and help them to see ways they could love and care for their neighbors who were experiencing poverty. The WALK has turned out to be a very meaningful experience for many people.
Good Works has provided more than 110,000 nights of shelter since we began. Each year, Good Works provides more than 21,000 meals to people experiencing hunger and homelessness. Last year, more than 1,100 different volunteers worked with Good Works through 20 different initiatives to assist people struggling with poverty and homelessness.
Thank YOU for your desire to come along side and participate in the Community of HOPE!
